Yorktown artist featured at Arts on Main First Friday event

Art by Tenley Raithel of Yorktown will be on display during Arts on Main’s July First Friday, to be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 1, at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester.

There will also be a display of interpretive floral arrangements from students of the Sogetsu School of the Middle Peninsula, and music will be provided by singer and songwriter Grayson Torrence.

The event is free and open to the public. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

“Journey with Art” will include a number of oil and watercolor works by Raithel, who uses clear, bright colors to lead viewers toward focus, clarity and balance, said a press release. Raithel’s work is influenced by the need to respect and care for “this beautiful planet and its people,” said the release, adding that the artist brings mindfulness into her studio, and that when she paints, she’s mindful of both the design and the healing value of colors.
