Peasley Middle School paraprofessional Susie Dunaway has been leading outdoor yoga classes over the past few weeks at Williams Wharf in Mathews.
Dunaway has been teaching yoga at the Mathews Family YMCA for the past four years. She began holding her outdoor classes at Williams Wharf on Wednesday evenings because that is when she taught her classes at the YMCA, even though these classes are not affiliated with the YMCA. She tries to hold one evening class and one weekend class every week but the class days and times are dependent on the weather.
“There’s a big interest in coming,” said Dunaway. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, Dunaway allows only nine people to sign up for each class.
The classes are first-come, first-served. Dunaway will send out a group email announcing her classes and the first nine people who respond are allowed to participate in the class.
