YMCA site work underway

Site work began last Monday for the new Mathews Family YMCA that will be built on Cricket Hill Road at Hudgins. The task at hand was to raise the elevation of the site, said YMCA director Sheila Pillath. Over 4,000 cubic yards of fill were hauled in, graded and compacted, she said, adding that the contractor would like to complete as much work as possible after the building permit is approved and before bad weather sets in. Site elevation is one requirement in order for the building to be used as a storm shelter.
