YMCA offers Healthy Together Outdoors classes

The Mathews Family YMCA has initiated its Phase I re-opening with Healthy Together Outdoors classes. The Y said this is in response to Gov. Ralph Northam’s Forward Virginia Plan, The Y supplies the equipment and the music, while members bring their own exercise mat, towel and water. “The first week has been a lot of fun. It’s been wonderful seeing our members and group exercise staff again,” said center executive Buzz Lambert.

The YMCA honors social distancing and keeps exercise participants 10-feet apart, a release stated. Classes are limited to nine members, and reservations are required. During the reopening, the Y has prioritized making sure everything it does is safe, clean and healthy.

“Our members are amazing. We have been humbled by their enthusiastic response to our outdoor exercise offerings. They are such inspiring people,” said Lambert.
