YMCA, B&G Club hold program on teen suicide

The Mathews Family YMCA and the Mathews Boys & Girls Club will sponsor jointly a teen suicide prevention rally from 6 to 9 p.m. next Friday, April 20, at the Boys & Girls Club building.

The event will include live performances by teens on suicide situations and motivational speakers. Additionally, there will be a screening of the movie "To Save A Life." Snacks will be provided.

The program is free and open to the public. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair, blanket or towel to sit on.

DIABETES COURSE: "Live Empowered," a diabetes wellness course, begins next Thursday, April 19, and continues through May 17. The program will be held at the Roman Catholic Church of Francis de Sales from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursdays. Each weekly meeting emphasizes various factors related to diabetes, including heart health, nutrition, medications and emotional well-being. Included in the enrollment is a pass to use the YMCA facilities. The cost is $30.
