Year in review: A look back at 2021 in Gloucester

Due to the especially harmful impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people of color, including disproportionate rates of illness and death from the disease, the Gloucester Branch of the NAACP, in partnership with the Three Rivers Health District, sponsored a vaccination clinic for people of color last February at Gloucester’s Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. All three members of the Arrington family of Hayes, pictured above, were able to get their first shots of the Moderna vaccine during the clinic, from left: daughter Janee, Larry and Angeline. At right is Brenda Dixon, president of the Gloucester branch of the NAACP, who advocated for a vaccine clinic for people of color.
