The Virginia Department of Transportation said its safety improvement at the intersection of Route 17 with Woods Cross Road is nearly completed. A release said drivers will notice there are still a lot of orange barrels within the work zone, and that when all paving and line striping is finished, crews will shift traffic into its final configuration and remove the barrels. The improvement is called a Restricted Crossing U-turn. Drivers on Woods Cross Road or Davenport Road can no longer make left-turns or go straight across Route 17. They must turn right and travel less than 900 feet to a nearby crossover, where they can make a U-turn and travel in their desired direction....
