Women’s history

The Cricket Hill Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, displayed this portrait of its founding member and first regent, Emma L. Smith White, during March, Women’s History Month, at Mathews Memorial Library. White was regent for 34 years in the periods 1923-48, 1952-55, and 1960-66; she was also an early female member of the Virginia House of Delegates.
