Women of the Moose to hold community Christmas dinner

From 2-5 p.m. on Christmas Day, the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1312, will be hosting a holiday dinner for the community at the Gloucester Moose Lodge on Route 17, south of Gloucester Court House. There will also be a clothes closet, toys and a special visitor.

Plans for this event started in July. The chapter’s activities and sports chair Zina Jett took on this project and started spreading the word and canvassing local business for donations.

“The response was overwhelming,” senior regent Carol Birch said. “Business owners donated goods and cash generously.”

The event quickly grew so quickly that membership chair Betsy Tuttle stepped up to assist Jett.

Together, the two women have distributed posters and flyers, coordinated the kitchen staff, organized donations and handed out assignments to the many volunteers.
