Woman charged with attempted murder of child; buried remains of second child found

A Hayes woman was charged with attempted capital murder after Gloucester Sheriff’s Office investigators found a young girl “extremely malnourished and suffering from severe starvation” inside a mobile home in the 8100 block of Carrie Lane in Hayes on Thursday, according to Chief Investigator Scott Little.

Little said investigators revisited the Carrie Lane residence Friday afternoon and uncovered the buried remains of what appears to be a young child inside a shed on the property.

Little said Shannon Gore, 25, of the Carrie Lane address was charged with attempted capital murder and felony child abuse in connection with the child’s condition. He said her husband, Brian Gore, age 29 of the same address, was also charged with felony child abuse.
