Wittman holds meet-and-greet at Hayes

Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross) said last Thursday he would much rather be in Washington, D.C., addressing national budget matters than out of session on break.

However, Wittman said he was glad to be at the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce office at Hayes for a 90-minute meeting with constituents. Approximately 40 people, mostly local business owners, attended the meet-and-greet session. Wittman spoke first inside the chamber office and then the group stood outside under a tent for more than an hour.

Wittman talked on specific points and then responded to questions on a wide-ranging variety of topics. He discussed health care, the military, veteran affairs, education and many other topics.

He said the budget should have been adopted before the break was called. He said he thinks it not a good policy to take a break when the budget has not been adopted.
