Winter storm Izzy, which came through Gloucester and Mathews counties on Sunday, affected all three of Dominion Energy’s Virginia regions and northeast North Carolina with wind, snow, ice and rain. More than 57,000 Dominion customers experienced outages, according to Bonita Billingsley Harris, Eastern Region director for the power company.
“We had some snow in Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina, but the issue was mostly wind, knocking down power lines,” she said. Nearly 23,000 customers experienced outages locally.
Dominion crews worked all night, restoring power to all but about 4,000 customers as of 7:45 Monday morning, she said.
