Winter sports tryouts are scheduled to begin next week at Gloucester High School. Under the Virginia High School League pandemic guidelines, the winter sports season comes first and will be followed by fall sports in February and spring sports in April.

Tryouts for GHS junior varsity and varsity boys’ basketball begin Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 7-9, of next week from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Tryouts for JV and varsity girls’ basketball also begin Monday through Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school gyms.

Tryouts for JV and varsity cheerleading will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, and from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the GHS commons area. Students wanting to tryout for cheerleading must sign up and get a time slot by contacting their coaches.

Wrestling tryouts begin Monday, Dec. 14 and run through Friday, Dec. 18, from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. daily in the wrestling room. Track and field tryouts also begin Monday, Dec. 14, from 3 to 5...
