Winter registration begins Monday

Registration for Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism’s winter classes and programs begins at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15. Visit the registration website at www.gloucesterva.info/civicrec to see the full winter schedule.

NIGHT BIKE: Gloucester PRT will hold a night bike at Beaverdam Park from 5:15-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, on the multi-use trail. You must have at least an 800 lumen headlight and handlebar lights to take part in the roughly 5-6 mile ride. The fee is $3 and registration deadline is Nov. 15.

BINGO: Bingo for ages 55 and over will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Whitcomb Lodge. The fee is $10 per person; Friday is the deadline to register.

THE FULL HIKE: “The Full Hike,” a self-guided hike of 9.5 miles from one end of Beaverdam Park to the other, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27. Participants meet at the park’s main entrance (8687 Roaring Springs Road) at 9 a.m. They will be shuttled to the Fary’s Mill Road entrance and will take the trail back to the main entrance. The fee is $5 and the deadline to register is Nov. 20. Pre-registration is required.

FALL BIRDING PADDLE: A fall birding paddle will be held from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Beaverdam Park. A park ranger will lead the paddle. The cost is $5 for those who bring their own kayak; $15 if you need to rent one of the park’s kayaks. Friday is the deadline to sign up.
