Winners named in Arts on Main Annual Juried Show

Arts on Main opened its Annual Juried Show on Friday with the announcement of show winners during a reception at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester.
Juror Trent Nicholas noted that it had been difficult to select 51 works from over 200 submissions, and even more difficult to choose only three prize winners, said a press release. He said he based his selection process on a variety of criteria, including mastery of the medium and technique.
“In my mind, [all of the entries] are prize winners,” he said.
The winners were: “Red Zinger,” an acrylic painting by James Warwick Jones, first place; “Garden View,” a nuno felt kimono by Barbara Brecher, second place; and “Blue Herons,” a colored pencil piece by Nancy Jacey, third place. These pieces and the rest of the juried show will be on display until Nov. 1....
