WILTON LEE HUDGINS SR.

Wilton Lee Hudgins Sr., 88 years old, of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023. Wilton was a past member and Governor of Gloucester Moose #886 and a member of Petsworth Baptist Church in Gloucester. He was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding as a crane operator for 20 years. Mr. Hudgins owned his own big rig and worked as a long-haul driver all over the East Coast. He and his wife, Shirley Hudgins, also owned a 76 Service station in Cobbs Creek, Virginia, for many years before his retirement and their move to Gloucester in 1979.

Wilton was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann Hudgins; his sister, Louise Belvin, and brother-in-law, Herman Belvin, both of Gloucester; his brother-in-law, Vernon “Sonny” Kirby; sons, Ralph Casey Hudgins, Robert Foster Hudgins, David Wayne Hudgins, all of Gloucester, and Bryan Keith Hudgins of San Diego, California. Wilton is survived by his sister, Jane Kirby of Williamsburg; his sons, Wilton Lee Hudgins Jr. of Waskom, Texas, Dale Hudgins of Mathews, Virginia; his two daughters, Linda Bartnikowski (Mike) of Newport News, and Brenda Hudson (Kenny) of Hayes, Virginia. Wilton is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a service at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, 160 Main Street, Mathews, Va., on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at H.C. Smithers Cemetery, 251 Smithers Lane, Hudgins, Virginia.
