William R. Davis Sr., 77, of Port Haywood, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

Senior partner of Davis Logging for over 25 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, C. Elmer and Nina Davis Sr.; a son, George R. Davis, and two

grandchildren, Robert Davis Jr. and Jessica Davis.

He is survived by his

wife, Shirley A. Davis; six daughters, Nina Powell of Connecticut, Shirley Mathews (Michael), Gloria Myles (Robert), Dorothy Willis (Herbert Jr.), all

of Mathews; Allison Davis (Robert) of King William, and Ellen Johnson (Michael Sr. of Middlesex; sons, William Davis Jr. (Mary) of Mathews and Tracy Davis Sr. (Ashley) of Essex; two brothers, Elmer Davis Jr. (Inez) and Thomas Davis, both of Port Haywood; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Davis of Gloucester. He is

also survived by 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three nephews, and one niece.
