William Everett Martin Sr., age 86, of Saluda, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. William was born on April 23, 1939, to the late Willliam Brian and Zelphia W. Rush Martin in Ohio. William joined the Air Force and later the Army. He retired in 1977 after 20 years of service, serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a jack-of-all-trades: a plumber, an electrician, a deputy sheriff, a shuttle bus driver, and most recently, he worked in security at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, tending to his plants and flowers, working on puzzles, and appreciating wildlife. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Lee Martin. William is survived by his wife, Betty Martin; children, Valerie Hedrick (Barry) and William Everett Martin Jr. (Marshella); 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
