William Edward Smith, 86, of White Marsh, Va., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

He was born in Gum Fork, and was the son of the late Warren and Mildred Ransone Smith. He retired from the Naval Weapons Station in 1990 after 28 years’ service and was the owner of Smith AC and Refrigeration at White Marsh.

He was a former member of Peninsula Baptist Church and attended White Marsh Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Virginia Smith; daughter, Sue West and her husband Wayne; son, Nelson Smith; granddaughter, Courtney West Ortiz and her husband Juan, and great-grandchild, Leland Batts.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Gloucester Point Cemetery. There was a reception for the family following the service at White Marsh Baptist Church.

Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, was in charge of arrangements.
