Holly Sowinski has always wanted to open a bookstore and when the right opportunity came along close to home, she decided to give it a go. The grand opening for Wild Daisy Books, located at 2800 King William Avenue in West Point, is scheduled for Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. The bookstore and gift shop has a wide range of used and new books with complimentary coffee and hot chocolate available for customers as they browse. There’s also a whole room dedicated to a children’s area. “It’s mainly used,” said Sowinski about her inventory. “It’s a mixture of new and used, but the majority is used. I wanted to have a little bit of a mix.” She has always liked daisies and when trying to decide on a name for her new bookstore, she kept coming back to “Wild Daisy Books.” “It’s just the love of daisies and books and it stuck with me,” said Sowinski. “They’re happy flowers.” During a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sowinski opened a fortune cookie to find a fateful message, “New opportunities will com...
