Wilbur “Pete” Smith Jr., 72, of Hayes, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at his home.

He was a native of Gloucester County, and was the son of the late Wilbur Smith Sr. and Mildred Smith Riley. He retired from Yorktown Naval Weapons Station on July 3, 1993 and had also worked at Busch Gardens in the security department. He was a member of Rock Church in Gloucester.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Smith; his son, Michael Smith of Gloucester; stepdaughter Crystal West of Brownsville, Pa.; stepson, Jonathan West and his wife Wendy of Gloucester; three step-grandchildren; mother and father-in-law, Mary and David West; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Squires, and his two best friends, Richard and Verette Coates.

The family received friends at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, July 27, 2015, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., with funeral services starting at 12 by the Rev. Frank Boyd. Burial was in Rosewell Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice.
