Wiggins’s walk-off grand slam lifts Deltas over Cards

The Deltaville Deltas won another thriller over the Newport News Cardinals on Saturday night, coming from behind twice and winning the game on a Ryan Wiggins walk-off grand slam, by the score of 8-6.

The league-leading Cardinals split the series on Sunday, defeating Deltaville 7-0. With the split, Deltaville (7-2) remains a half game behind the Cardinals (8-2). This Saturday night, the Deltas host the York Cannons at Deltaville Ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for 7:30. On Sunday, the Deltas travel to York’s Grafton High School for a 4 p.m. game.

Down by two with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, Ryan Wiggins blasted a walk-off grand slam, and the Deltas defeated the Newport News Cardinals, 8-6, in another Saturday night thriller in Deltaville.

The Cardinals took an early 3-0 lead, plating a run in the second inning, and took advantage of a defensive error in the top of the fourth to plate two more runs.
