Widows’ luncheon

Widows of Gloucester and Mathews came together to share experiences, insights and fellowship at a luncheon Saturday at First Morning Star Baptist Church, Hayes. Organized by Marion Randall and Charlotte Wright, themselves widows, the gathering included prayer, a praise dance, testimonials by the organizers, table talk among those attending, and presentations by Tracey Ellis Turner and First Morning Star co-pastor Teela Finch. There were also raffles of a range of gifts. In top photo, among the over four dozen women attending were, standing at right, table talk facilitator Vertanna Holmes, and, seated clockwise from her left, Mary Gordon, Delores Gayle (back to camera), Joan Jones, Alma Lee, Martha Story, Audrey Collins, Lisa Anderson and Lottie Robinson. In bottom photo, Ruby Whiting, Esther Whiting and Sandra Clayborn, from left, performed a Praise Dance during the luncheon.
