The Baystars U12 Whitecaps made team history over the weekend by placing first in the FSCI Labor Day Tournament in Fredericksburg, capturing the first tournament championship in the team’s history. The tournament opened Saturday morning where the Whitecaps faced the Stafford Revolution. The Whitecaps trailed their opponent, 4-2, late in the second half, but they were able to fight their way back to win, 6-5. Ryan Seay and Colton Bergstrom each recorded hat tricks with one of Seay’s goals assisted by Wyatt Brockenbrough. Goalkeepers Triffon Luechauer and Lux Despinis combined for 10 saves. Following an extended weather delay, the Whitecaps returned to the field Saturday afternoon for a shortened match against Cville United FC. With only 30 minutes of play and no halftime, the Whitecaps earned a 4-1 victory. Donnie Wolford scored twice, followed by Ronen Lane and Noah Ford with one goal each.
