Paul White of Bena has been appointed Gloucester High School’s newest athletic director, after the Gloucester County School Board approved its latest round of personnel appointments during its August meeting held Aug. 11 in the T.C. Walker Education Center. White, who will start his new role on Aug. 24, already has experience as an athletic director. He served as AD and head football coach at Mathews High School for several years beginning in 2007 before stepping down as AD in 2014 to accept the head football coach position at The Apprentice School. He temporarily reassumed the athletic director job at MHS in 2017. Beyond coaching football, White has also served as a teacher. He has experience in supervising coaches, managing athletic budgets and facilities, coordinating schedules and events, overseeing student eligibility and supporting Virginia High School League requirements.
