White Hall sparkles in its 10th year

August 8 brought the tenth anniversary of Food From the Heart, an event sponsored by Charles and Mari Ann Banks at their beautiful home “White Hall” in support of Gloucester County’s food pantries. The fundraiser was held in what Mr. and Mrs. Banks call the “party barn,” but the word hospitality should be added to the title somewhere.

The symbol for a 10th anniversary comes in two forms: traditional and modern. Traditional: aluminum/tin; modern: diamond jewelry. The 2018 Food From the Heart was well represented in both forms.

There was plenty of aluminum being used in the kitchen at show time and I’m sure some of the equipment was tin or contained some form of tin. And the event sparkled like diamonds in many forms, including the host and hostess, the collection of outstanding chefs, the sponsoring company USFoods and its staff, and the volunteers from Abingdon Episcopal and Union Baptist churches who were there to serve graciously.
