Wharf-to-Wharf Swim to be held Sunday

The Mathews Land Conservancy will hold its 15th Annual Wharf-to-Wharf Swim at 1 p.m. Sunday at Williams Wharf Landing in Mathews. This open-water swim will be approximately one mile out and back in the East River from Williams Wharf.

Registration and check-in begin at noon. All ages and abilities are welcome and swim aids are permitted. Forms will be available at registration or can be found online at mathewslandconservancy.org/events.

Swimmers should raise at least $100 in tax-deductible sponsorship funds, which will benefit the projects and facilities at Williams Wharf. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers.

Swimmers will start in waves: 1st Wave for Non-Assisted Swimmers (medals will be awarded), 2nd Wave for Assisted Swimmers (swim aids). Time will be recorded for all by Christine Johnson of the Mathews Outdoor Club.

Conditions for the swim will be ideal with air and water temperatures in the 70s and minimal jellyfish. Swim caps will be provided for the participant...
