Wharf to Wharf Swim returns Sept. 15

The Mathews Land Conservancy will host its 13th annual Wharf to Wharf Swim at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Williams Wharf Landing in Mathews. This open water swim will be approximately one mile across the East River from Williams Wharf to historic Hicks Wharf and back.

Registration and check-in begins at noon. All ages and abilities are welcome and swim aids are permitted. Forms can be found online at mathewslandconservancy.org.

Swimmers should raise at least $100 in tax-deductible sponsorship funds, which will benefit the projects and facilities at Williams Wharf. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers.

Swimmers will start in waves: 1st Wave for Non-Assisted Swimmers (medals will be awarded), 2nd Wave for Assisted Swimmers (swim aids). Time will be recorded for all by the Virginia Tidewater Trailrunners.
