Wetlands board approves two shoreline improvement projects

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board unanimously approved two applications for shoreline improvements during a meeting held July 12 in the colonial courthouse.

Leroy Maxie received permission to use up to four Filtrexx logs (120 linear feet) fill with mixture of sand and mulch placed at and above mean high water or adjacent to property situated along the northwest branch of Sarah Creek at 1995 Tillage Lane, said Linda Walthall, administrator programs for Gloucester Environmental Programs.

Following a second public hearing, the board approved the request of Jeanette Canady with revised drawing to install approximately 190 linear feet of marsh toe adjacent to property situated along the North River at 9939 Anchorage Lane.

After completing its business, the wetlands board sat as the Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation & Erosion Commission. The commission approved one application and tabled another so the applicant can provide additional information about his plans.
