Wetlands board approves proposed jetty

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board unanimously approved the one application before it during a meeting Aug. 10 in the colonial courthouse.

Dean Short was given permission to construct a 48-foot timber jetty from existing riprap adjacent to property situated along the York River at 7946 Hermit Lane, said Linda Walthall, environmental programs coordinator.

Following its meeting, the board sat as the Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation & Erosion Commission. The commission held a public hearing on one application.

Karen Schenck was granted conditional approval on a 6-1 vote (Richard Klein voting against) for a buffer modification for the installation of a 16’x16’ paver patio at 8049 Riverwatch Court, Walthall said.

The board required Schenck to present a landscape plan to the Environmental Programs staff for approval depicting 40 proposed woody vegetation plants to be planted in the flow path of applicant’s property. In addition, Walthall said the comm...
