Wetlands board approves one shoreline project

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved one application for shoreline improvements during a meeting Dec. 9 in the colonial courthouse.

Robert Beckstoffer was granted authorization to construct a 50’ riprap spur and 50’ riprap sill with 200 cubic yards of beach nourishment adjacent to property situated along Purtan Bay/York River at 6883 Riverview Park Circle.
Linda Walthall, environmental programs administrative coordinator, said that Beckstoffer also received permission for 2,300 square feet of wetland vegetation plantings.

Board chairman Walter Priest noted that the project was consistent with Virginia Institute of Marine Science guidelines.

In other matters, a contractor withdrew the application of Michael Koeppen so that the two parties could review plans for the project.

Koeppen had applied to install two 120-foot vinyl and timber jetties and one 220-foot vinyl and timber jetty adjacent to property situated along the York River at 10664 Heron Point Rd. ...
