Wetlands board approves five applications

The Mathews County Wetlands Board approved five applications for construction that will impact wetlands during a meeting on June 5. Three of the proposed projects are on Gwynn’s Island.

Stephen Murman of Richmond, was granted a permit to install a 64-foot marsh sill along the Milford Haven shoreline at 1005 Gum Thicket Road, while Gwynn’s Island RV Resort, with a Pittsford, N.Y. address, was issued a permit renewal to construct a 100-foot-long community pier on the Chesapeake Bay at 551 Buckschase Road.

Also on the island, Mark Eubank of Doswell, received an after-the-fact permit to finish construction of a 100-foot replacement groin in the same footprint as a previous groin on the Chesapeake Bay at 4 Sweet Gum Drive.

William Vytacil of Richmond, was issued a permit to construct three marsh toes—one 90 feet, one 67 feet, and one 71 feet—and two marsh sills—one 40 feet and one 28 feet—along the Mobjack Bay/Sloop Creek shoreline at 92 Captains ...
