Wetlands board approved five shoreline applications during a meeting May 9

The Gloucester County Wetlands Board approved five shoreline improvement applications and denied one during a meeting May 9 in the colonial courthouse.

The board approved the application of Mark Booker to construct 106 linear feet of vinyl bulkhead and a 47-foot low profile vinyl groin/jetty adjacent to property situated along the York River at 5890 York Haven West Drive. Linda Walthall, permit technician in the Gloucester Environmental Programs Office, said the board unanimously approved the application with the stipulation that the first three feet of new fill be planted with salt meadow hay from bulkhead landward.

Following a separate hearing, the board voted 7-0 to approve the application of Carolyn C. Challoner to construct 125 linear feet of rock revetment along a creek shore, 75 foot by 16 foot northwest breakwater extension, and 300 cubic yards of beach nourishment adjacent to property situated along the York River and Aberdeen Creek at 4424 Hermitage Lane.
