West Point HS to present ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

The West Point High School Music and Drama departments will present the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” Thursday, March 12, through Saturday, March 14. “Fiddler on the Roof” (winner of nine Tony Awards) tells the story of Tevye, a poor milkman, his wife and his five daughters in the little village of Anatevka, in Russia. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill within them the traditional values in the face of changing social mores and growing antisemitism in Czarist Russia. The teenaged cast members have been rehearsing and sharpening their skills from singing, dancing and acting to providing special lighting and sound for the production. With musical accompaniment from the live orchestra, hard-working backstage crews, tech lighting and sound crews, to painting and building the set, there are many students involved in this project.
