West Point High to present‘Les Miserables’ March 14-16

“Les Miserables,” a beloved Broadway musical based on the classic French novel by Victor Hugo, will be performed by West Point High School’s Music and Drama Departments at 7 p.m. March 14-16 at the Robinson/Olsson Civic Auditorium at West Point High School, 1030 Thompson Avenue, West Point.

Set in 19th century France, “Les Miserables” follows the life of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who was sent to prison for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his starving nephew. Hunted for decades by his rival and ex-guard, Javert, Valjean goes from being a thief to becoming a mayor and gaining wealth as a rich entrepreneur who provides work for hundreds of the poor. Seeking redemption, he swears to take care of young Fantine, the daughter of a factory worker, and she changes his life forever.
