West Point Ford dealership under new owner

West Point’s Ford dealership, family owned for more than 40 years, has changed hands.

Ron and Jeanine Kody of Richmond Ford purchased the Medlin Motor Company last week. Founded in 1975 by Burley Medlin as Medlin Ford, the business will now be known as West Point Ford.

Former owner Mac Medlin, who purchased the business from his father in 2007, will stay on board as sales manager of the dealership.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the staff since they can look forward to an expanded new and used car inventory, additional employee benefits and an expanded support staff,” Medlin said.

He said he interviewed several buyers before selling the business and felt that the Kodys were the best choice to keep the best interests of the employees in mind. “I thought they would give my people something that would make them feel good,” he added. At age 58, Medlin said he can now express a “sigh of relief” knowing that when he retires, his employees will be in good hands.

“The acquisition brings expanded resources to the table that will enable West Point Ford to rise to new levels in sales and customer service,” Medlin added. “The existing culture and business model at Medlin Ford align well with those of Richmond Ford and we know that our team will be in good hands as they join their new Ford family.”

He said that Richmond Ford, which has two additional location—Richmond Ford-Lincoln and Richmond Ford West—is a repeat recipient of the prestigious Ford President’s Award every year since 2006, adding that the name Richmond Ford is synonymous with real value and genuine customer loyalty.

“We are excited about the opportunity to serve the West Point area and look forward to not only meeting new faces, but being an active participant in the community,” said Ron Kody, president.

“Gloucester is a very important cog to West Point Ford,” Medlin said. “People in the northern part of Gloucester, especially, provide us a lot of business.”

Jeff Meyer will be general manager of the dealership.
