WESLEY BRAEWOOD CHILDRESS

Wesley Braewood Childress, 35, completed his earthly journey on Nov. 24, 2011 at his home in Gloucester, Va., with his wife by his side.

Wesley grew up in Stafford County, Va., and graduated from Stafford High School. Wes found his calling in service to his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Virginia Air National Guard, at Langley AFB, Virginia. Master Sergeant Wesley Childress traveled the U.S. and parts of the world working on F-15s, F-16s and F-22s.

Wes became a friend to all he met. He loved many outdoor activities including hiking, canoeing and riding his motorcycle. Wes could have fun in just the simple things in life. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him including his beloved dogs, Harley and Efes.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James W. Childress; aunt, Judith L. Childress, and sister, Jennifer L. Childress.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Kelley McDonough Childress of Gloucester; parents, Carolyn and William Childress of King George; brothers, Ryan W. Childress and friend Melina Eaken of Culpeper, Benjamin H. Childress and wife Elizabeth and nephew, Aadan of Spotsylvania; grandmother, Louise B. Childress of King George; maternal grandparents, Myrtle and Clifton A. Synan of Caroline; mother- and father-in-law, Marie and Michael McDonough of Philadelphia, Pa., and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes, Va. 23072. The family will receive friends at the home of Wesley’s parents in King George on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 1-4 p.m. (540-809-7151 for information).

Thanks to all family and friends for the support and love given to Wesley and his family. Special thanks to the surgeons, oncologists, nurses and staff of the Williamsburg Sentara VOA, officers and enlisted members of the 192 Fighter Wing and the Brothers of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club for the kindness, support and love they have given to Wes "CHILI" and his family.
