Welcome to Gloucester

Motorists travelling north over the Coleman Bridge have likely spotted the large concrete planters full of colorful flowers and greenery with seasonal decorations as they approach the toll booths; but did they ever wonder who is responsible for them? For more than 20 years, the four planters and all the plantings have been faithfully maintained by Gloucester Extension Master Gardeners. These substantial planters were purchased by the Master Gardeners and VDOT has recognized this toll facility with awards for attractiveness as a result. Travelers have commented to toll booth workers on how much they enjoy seeing these lovely displays. To help with its ongoing expenses, the Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale at the Gloucester Moose Lodge from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
