Ways that you can help homeless pets in need

Since its founding in 1912, Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society has strived to protect animals. With the mission to be a beacon in animal adoption, welfare, and advocacy, GMHS continues to provide life-saving services to pets in need from the Middle Peninsula to the Northern Neck and beyond.

Compared to last year, the number of pets cared for by GMHS has more than doubled. With increased demand for services comes even more opportunities to partner with GMHS to save more lives.

You can give more pets lives full of love and comfort by adopting a homeless pet. GMHS has dogs, cats and small animals waiting to make their heart connection. If you are considering adoption, submit an adoption questionnaire prior to your visit to our shelter at gmhumanesociety.org/adoption-process. Your responses will help the adoption team learn more about the type of pet you would like to welcome into your heart and home.
