Waves beat Steward in volleyball

Wearing pink socks and serving a pink ball, the Ware Academy girls’ volleyball team marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month in their Oct. 5 match with The Steward School. The Waves won 2-0 over the Steward School but dropped a 2-1 game to St. Catherine’s School Friday.

The Ware varsity soccer team beat Denbigh Baptist Christian School 5-4 on Oct. 4 but lost an overtime match to Williamsburg Christian School by the same score last Thursday. The Ware cross country team defeated Chesapeake Academy on Oct. 4 and Ware golfer A.J. Harris took first place in the weekly match with Chesapeake and Aylett with a nine-hole score of 42.

Tuesday was a school-wide Ware Pink Day at the academy to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Faculty joined students in sporting their pink attire in a walk around campus. Ware’s efforts to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign are ongoing.
