WARREN JOSEPH DAVIS JR.

Warren Joseph “Dave” Davis Jr., also known as “Grizz,” age 80, died peacefully at home in Hayes, on Monday, August 17, 2020, surrounded by his loving family members. Dave was born in Littleton, Massachusetts, on August 31, 1939 before becoming a resident of Gloucester, Virginia. For the past 34 years, Dave enjoyed “the life worth living” with his wife Trish. Dave proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years, including two tours in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic (“keep ’em flying”) and retired at Fort Eustis in 1978. Another career in civil service at Fort Eustis ended in retirement in 2000. As a founder of VFW, Post 8252 Gloucester Courthouse, and past commander, Dave was kept quite busy. Also, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a faithful member of the parish of the Church of St. Therese Catholic Church.

Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Trish; sons, Steven A. Davis (Corinne), Scott A. Davis (Gabi), Michael S. Davis; daughter, Sandy A. Schoch (Greg); grandchildren, Stephanie, Douglas, William, Ashley, Sammy, Christopher, Brandy, Jason, Angela, Liam; brothers, Galen Davis (Diana), Kevin Davis (Kathy); mother-in-law, Helen Trunkes, as well as numerous extended family. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service conducted by Father Gregory Kandt will be held in Windsor Gardens Cemetery & Mausoleum. We look forward to celebrating Dave’s colorful life with all of our caring friends at a later date. A special thanks to our angels at Riverside Walter Reed Hospice and those folks who provided us comfort in our time of need. In memory of Warren, contributions may be made to the VFW, Post 8252, 7439 John Clayton Memorial Hwy., Gloucester, Va. 23061 or the Church of St. Therese Maintenance Fund, 6262 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
