Ware Neck’s community hub looks to expand

The Ware Neck Store and Post Office is a hub of activity in the quiet rural community of Ware Neck, and the Friends of the Ware Neck Store (FOWNS) are looking to expand its public space to make it more useful to the area it serves.

FOWNS President Will Grant said the mission of FOWNS, which owns the store, is primarily to preserve and maintain the building for its tenants. The buildings current tenants are Nuttall Country Store, the Ware Neck Post Office, and Ware River Consulting.

The consulting firm is located on the renovated second floor while the store and post office occupy the front of the first floor. Behind the store is a back room, and now FOWNS is planning “The Back Room” project to renovate the space and open it to community use.
