Ware inducts 5 into National Junior Honor Society

The Ware Academy National Junior Honor Society inducted Ethan Gardiner, Haley Harris, Thomas McMurtrie, Alex Milligan and Samuel Strawn in a ceremony May 17. 

The NJHS is a community service-oriented organization for middle school students. Induction is based on academic achievement and prior community service, and inductees must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade point average to retain membership.

The Ware NJHS, along with the Ware student council, participate in many service projects throughout the year. This year’s projects included a Bread for Life campaign, installing campus flower beds and providing services for the Urbanna Oyster Festival, the Gloucester Wine Festival and Ware’s Santa Breakfast. 

Also this year, the NJHS “adopted” U.S. Army Specialist Robert Leso and his service dog, “Sgt. Akela,” who are serving in the Middle East.  ...
