This past Sunday, Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester, observed Scout Sunday, welcoming representatives from three Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Affiliate Groups—Troop 111, Troop 1651, Venture Crew 111 and Cub Scout Pack 175—to participate in the service.
Scouts served as acolytes, flag and banner bearers, and lectors. The sermon, delivered by the Rev. Scott Parnell, Ware’s pastor, recognized the role that scouting plays in developing future community leaders.
“The BSA scouting program models a community that cares for one another and invests in one another,” said Parnell. “Truly, we must thank the parents and mentors who invest in the lives of these young people because they are destined to become the pillars of any community where they settle.”
