Ware Church honors Bread for Life volunteers

Bread for Life volunteers were honored Sunday as part of Ware Episcopal Church’s Rogation celebration. The rogation days (in the sixth week following Easter) are customarily those when fields are planted and blessed for the upcoming growing season.

The short service was conducted by the Rev. Scott Parnell, rector of Ware Church, at the Ware Gardens. The service recognized the Bread for Life volunteers and their commitment and service to the Gloucester community.

“It was our privilege to host this volunteer appreciation cookout for Bread for Life,” said Parnell. “They do such important work for our community and it is so important that we affirm their work and ministry.”

Those in attendance also blessed the Ware Gardens for the upcoming growing season. This ministry at Ware is coordinated by Jane Smith. All the produce grown is given directly to Bread for Life for distribution. Last year, Ware donated more than 1,000 pounds to the food pantry.
