Ware Church donates baby formula to practice

In an effort to begin easing the baby formula shortage on the Middle Peninsula, Ware Episcopal Church donated 128 boxes of baby formula last week to Courthouse Pediatrics in Gloucester, which is affiliated with the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.

After consulting with Dr. Sherie Austin, resident pediatrician at Courthouse Pediatrics, Ware Church raised more than $10,000 to import formula from the United Kingdom. The Sanders Foundation, Gloucester, also issued a grant to the church to purchase additional formula. Last week’s delivery was just the first wave of the order placed by the church to help parents provide nutrition for their infants.

“It was our joy to be able to help address a problem that is affecting so many,” said the Rev. Scott Parnell, rector of Ware Church. “And I’m proud of Ware Church for recognizing the opportunity and doing something about it.”

Any family in need of formula can contact the Courthouse Pediatrics office.
