Ware Academy’s varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Aylett Country Day School 37-26 to win the ISAC championship last Thursday at Christchurch School.

The teams were evenly matched through the first three quarters but Ware pulled away to defeat the Patriots in the final period. The Waves were led offensively and defensively by eighth graders Pierce Lambert, Josh Ward and Kobey Taylor. 

Seventh graders Colton Bonniville, Alex Milligan, Denison Glover and Samuel Strawn were instrumental in holding the Patriots to only 26 points. Lambert led Ware with 20 points, Ward added nine, Taylor scored six and Milligan chipped in two. 

“This year has been a steady progression toward excellence that resulted in our first ISAC win in eight years,” said Ware coach John Sadler. “I am proud of all of my boys and the hard work that was displayed throughout the season.”  ...
