Ware Academy welcomes 175 students

Ware Academy welcomed 175 students to campus for the 2021-2022 school year on Wednesday, Sept. 8.

“Ware Academy had a very successful year last year because of the transparency and dedication of our faculty, staff and families. We’ll continue those efforts this year, prioritizing the health and safety of our students and staff,” said Head of School Dawn Fleet.

Fleet said that Patrick Billups, the 2020 Teacher of the Year for Mathews County Public Schools, joined the Ware faculty this year. In addition to teaching music, Billups fills the new role of director of social and emotional learning. Ware recently adopted a new social and emotional learning curriculum.

Ware also has two other new faculty members this year. Nicole Ames, a Washington native, is teaching upper school social studies and Constance Newman of Gloucester is teaching upper school science. Both have extensive experience in education.
