Ware Academy students are back in the classroom

Ware Academy opened its doors to students on Monday and Ware’s Head of School Dawn Fleet said the campus now has 143 children enrolled for the 2020-2021 school year.

“The first day was just like any other first day—chaotic,” Fleet said. By Tuesday, things had settled down and the Ware children were getting back to learning.

“The kids have been great about wearing masks and social distancing. Some kids are wearing their masks, not just in the halls, but in the classroom,” Fleet said. “Some teachers have elected to do that also.”

“For grades three and up, there are not more than 12 students in a class so that we can do social distancing. There are more children in the lower grades, but they are also in larger classrooms,” she said.

Fleet said eight Ware students have decided to learn virtually and Ware is streaming its classrooms live directly to those students. “No one can get into our Google Meets unless we let them in,” she noted.
