Ware Academy cross country posts undefeated season

The Ware Academy cross country team recently completed an undefeated season, according to the team’s first-year coach Craig Ciszewski.

The 10 boys and one girl, ranging from fourth through eighth grades, competed in three meets this year—scoring 29 points in the first meet, 22 in the second meet and 27 in the third.

Cody Carnes finished in first place in all three meets. Other team members included David Mattox, Will Mattox, Finn Ciszewski, Henry Ciszewski, John French, Brenna Henrix, Pierce Lambert, Lucas Perez, Chase Van Fossen and Ethan Yard. Over the summer, Coach Ciszewski held weekly practice sessions, stressing the scientific principles behind running. “I think that was beneficial to get a head start,” said Ciszewski, who is a triathlete himself. “The kids really embraced running.”
